Mistletoe

A haiku

"Mistletoe on sycamore

Green clump, Christmas symbol—

gives me joy galore."

Note: Mistletoe is a plant semi-parasite that grows on big trees like oak, sycamore, sweetgum, alder. I love spotting them in the branches. They are especially distinct in autumn and winter.

If you didn’t know—because of their evergreen nature, mistletoes are often used as ornaments during Christmas, under which lovers kiss.

Interestingly, mistletoe extract is also used in some anti-cancer therapies.

Have you ever seen mistletoe in nature?
