I'm never the one being checked on, but yet I'm always the first to do the checking.
These friends I have can be a mess, never noticing I'm also wrecking.
So co-dependent on me, draining me, my glass is never full.
I'm to blame for bending, while my life's upending, my boundaries a game of push and pull.
Random calls through the night, because them and their man had a fight, with little disregard for my time.
Can I please have a second, or a minute or two, because tending to myself isn't a crime.
I promise you will live if your call goes unanswered, your issues are not life or death.
I'm busy running around tending to my own problems, like damn can a girl take a breath.
It's not always about you, I have to live for me too
You can pretend to not notice, but you know it's true.
I sink my own ship, from the overexertion of having to save you.
