Miscellaneous Tankas
A writer’s motivation comes like a bolt of lightning
Winter
Snow on the mountains
Nature’s blood flows through the hills
Metal digs in ice
Laughter ripples through the air
Winter is now upon us
Spring
In Mother’s garden
Butterflies blend with flowers
Pollen in the air
The clouds smile at each other
All gazing up at the sun
Summer
Heat radiates down
Bodies splash into water
Droplets fly like doves
A child points with excitement
Crying, “Mommy, look! Rainbow!”
Fall
The wind is hopeless
Crying as it blows by trees
Leaves drop like bodies
The trees shake weakly, waiting
For spring seems decades away
Humans
Birds chirp far away
The sun peeks through the thick trees
Crunching of branches
Under heavy human feet
Disrupt nature’s harmony
Luna
The stars dance and shine
Welcoming the Queen of Night
Trees bow in the wind
She comes in a black carriage
Pulled by servants of the sun
Sol
His golden aura
Raises wheat fields in kingdoms
Pulls people from damnation
Golden chariots
Welcome him to the city
The moon curses his shadow
Stars
Servants of the night
Spectators of the daytime
Eternally bound
Chained to our pitiful Earth
Forced to watch every move
River
Quick, away with you!
You must not dwell here, darling
The rocks will turn red
The past settles in the dust
But you must swim the rapids
Lake
Floating aimlessly
Lily Pads sigh with boredom
Frogs croak symphonies
Koi navigate the jungle
Fishermen doze peacefully
Ducklings
Ducklings follow Mom
Through tangled reeds; around rocks
One is left behind
Desperately crying for help
Caught in humanity's nets
Swan
Delicate feathers
Elegant, creamy white neck
Pecking gracefully
She’s forever on display
How tiring her life must be
Oasis
A floating rainbow
Ripples in Nature’s blanket
Cotton candy swims
Dryads and nymphs sing for her
Dancing in the bright shadows
Rainbow
Pearls floating in air
Blues and greens shower the land
Golden light rains down
Upon a silver mirror
Colors dance in open sky
Mother Nature
Onyx in marble
Waves of obsidian flow
Criss-crossing with pearls
Fog floats around her like skirts
Suns rise just to see her face
