Mirrors

A poem

Reflecting outer appearance

Leads to internal interference

When eyes are laid upon

All the scars and flaws

It’s hard to unsee

No longer free

From the social stigma

Of being a physical enigma

Straying from the beauty standards

No longer just a bystander

Riddled with insults

That only result

In further pain

That’s hard to tame

So when the ball starts rolling

And there’s no controlling

The comments and slurs

Do not be disturbed

Beauty is more than looks

It stems from those little nooks

Buried deep in your personality

Not based on superficialities

Take a look in the mirror

And it will be clear

That you are more than beautiful.
