A Broken Reflection

Mirror mirror upon the wall.

The stories you weave.

The lies you tell.

Not the fairest of them all.

An image distorted.

A perception of society’s perfection, page after page.

Flaws shining bright as the sun.

Each imperfection a reflection.

Each freckle, each dimple a scar.

Every stroke, a mistake.

Every blemish, a crack in the foundation.

A deformity glares back.

A repulsive sight.

An object of unfair aversion.

Hatred leaving a sour taste behind, like razors on the tongue.

A wild misconception of self-reflection.

Unsettling thoughts flashing by like lightning across the sky.

Self-oppression creating an endless cycle of self-pity.
