A Poem

I walk in with eyes cast down

Always aware of the mirror on the wall

Worried about who I will see in the glass

If I will break, or keep looking back

I can’t lose a game that I never play

So I don’t even try, I don’t check every day

Until finally I woke up desperate to be

The face I’ve been left with, what other people see

I ran to the mirror and it was somebody new

I didn’t know Me, but For once wanted to.

I keep on looking, trying to find

Everything I missed while I was lost in my mind.
