Mind Your Own Business

A poem

By Sara WilsonPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Eyes surrounded by black

piercings fill up her face

you think that she's evil

but is it really your place?

You whisper and laugh

spreading rumors around

feeling bigger than all

while so low to the ground

Are you mad? Are you jealous?

Cause you'll never be free.

You should work on yourself

and let other people be.

Excellent title that fits the tone perfectly. Not sure how I missed this one. Glad I stumbled across it.

  • "I'm looking at the man in the mirror...." Some of the nicest people I've ever met have been thoroughly goth. One of them was a high school student who was very protective of our son when he was a new student, just having moved to town, entering into the seventh grade, Black, Lakota & gay (though not officially out at the time), none of which tends to be easy to be in rural Kansas. But yeah, we do tend to form quick opinions & be dismissive of people based strictly upon appearance. I wonder if we'll ever get past that.

  • Soooo true! Live and let live. Don't be so judgemental. Just because something or someone is different, doesn't mean it's wrong. Loved your powerful poem!
