Midwinter Memory

Inspired by a visit to 123 Farm with my family

By Sara LittlePublished about a year ago 1 min read
123 Farm - Cherry Valley, CA

These Christmas nights amid the lights

and fields of lavender,

where stars take flight to glimmer bright

as winter's smile remembers -

Candles glowed, and burning low,

their flames recalled the past

where secrets sown to dreams made known

a hope held ever fast -

Some fiery sprite, with wild delight,

rekindles Yule's lost embers,

and whispers trace through time and space

to summon old Decembers.

From ancient days, through starlit haze,

the memories return -

As one, we gaze upon the Old Ways

to watch the Yule fires burn -

Such wondrous sight of winter white

our revelry engenders:

On solstice night the snow invites

the world to view her splendor.
