Midflight

Written for the Light Breaks Water Challenge

Still as glass

Reflection's past

Haunted faces

Touch the surface

With my fingertips

Disturb the silence

Unwind the image

Shattered

Broken

An empty soul

Without a home

.

Bend the light

Scattered 'cross

The water's edge

Bury silence

With a kiss

Round the bend

The rainbow twists

Catch my breath

Scared

Alone

A fractured dream

.

Silence is

Sunlight's reflection

Penetrating

Working through

The brokenness

Surrounding me

The chaos

And the vitriol

Won't drown me

In their sorrows

.

Push the water

Ripples dance

Across the surface

Dive under

Surrounded

In its cool embrace

My eyes search

For the sunlight

To penetrate

The darkness

And warm my soul
