Midday,
sleep remnants fading,
the sun arcing south,
breakfast’s done.
School's begun and ended in a flash,
a brilliant burst of fireworks' dash.
Dinner's served,
a modest plate.
The steak, a king among potatoes and carrots,
soaks in the day's rich juices,
musing on the day's end -
but not yet.
Let's not spoil this peaceful moment
with needless worries and complex words,
until the stars fall from the sky above,
and lull us gently into slumber.
Until morning comes again,
to ruin it all -
with too much light or too harsh words.
