Mettle Detecting

I have a tin of Roman coins and other bits

Mettle Detecting

Beneath the soil, so still and sound,

A treasure waited underground.

A sweep, a beep, my heart took flight,

A golden ring caught in the light.

Worth £500, what a score!

A find like this, who could want more?

Its shine, its weight, a tale untold,

A secret kept in the earth’s hold.

From buried dreams to my own hand,

A gift unearthed from time-worn land.

Metal detecting, such a thrill—

The joy of finding treasure lingers still.

I remember when metal detectors were a huge rage. Seemed like everyone had one. Can certainly find some cool stuff… Mostly junk bottle caps and such, but, once in a while …. SCORE!! 👍
