Merry Go Round
Sometimes we just can’t seem to get off this spiraling kiddie ride, Especially when the driving force.
I have all these ideas in my brain,
But I can’t seem to put them together,
None of them make any sense,
All bubbled up, merged together,
Like a Maytag set on spin,
Wash, repeat, Rinse,
Round and Round we go,
In another world,
Over something stupid, we had another fight,
In a whirlwind, spun together
We’re both so stubborn we don’t want to give,
No matter what, we both just have to be right,
If looks could kill,
We would both be dead right about now,
All the hateful, hurtful words that “accidentally” come out,
Without the thought of how the other feels,
Knowing tomorrow, We probably won’t even remember,
What is so important right now, it’s what we’re fighting about,
Spiraling out of control this time,
The tension between us,
So thick at times, I feel I can barely breathe,
This Merry go round we’re ridin’
It’s a never ending cycle,
It scares me half to death,
Like clockwork, every single time,
I swear I’ve had all I can handle,
And I can’t go through this again,
As I’m about to leave, bags are at the door,
You pull me in, Kiss me, hold me close,
I tear down my wall, and let you back in,
Once again, I believe your web of deceit,
Even though I know they are all lies,
I long for the way it used to be, Like it was in the past,
Back When nothing could break us,
We were strong, and so in love,
We knew we were meant to last,
I Knew this was coming it’s always temporary,
Before I turn around we’re fighting again,
But as always the good or the bad, will only last a few days,
Just as soon as we stop spinning from the last ride,
Barely stepping off from before, Off with a spinning push,
You’re right back to your sneaky, deceitful, wicked ways,
I find my seat upon the spinning carousel,
Your shouting and venomous words give a push start,
We take off full speed ahead,
Losing sight of all the progress we had only just made,
Leaving it all behind the lies begin all over again,
You tell me it is all in my head,
You tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about,
My feelings are invalid, worthless,
It’s all my fault, I’m the one to blame,
Only this time it is different than before,
I’ve got so much more at stake,
You're not leaving me feeling stupid, I’ve grown tired of your game,
No hopscotch, dominoes, marbles, or hide-n-go-seek,
I refuse to give in to the games you love to play with my mind,
No Mother may I, , Ring-around-the-Rosey , I’m done spinning round,
Your tricks are just a ploy used to fool me,
No more old maid, Mother may I, tag, I don’t need a push down the slide,
I’m leaving these monkey bars, I’m leaving this playground,
I’ve got my life together, I’ve got my head on straight,
I’m worth way more than you’re paying,
I’ve got both feet planted firmly on the ground,
I’m no longer a little girl at recess, I’m off to follow my dreams,
You can’t hold me down anymore, I’ve got to fly away free,
I may not have a running start, but I’m stepping off of this Merry Go Round.
