I know the shape of your name in my mouth
And the way your heart looks on your sleeve.
I know where you like to holiday and exactly
The kind of candies that make you light up.
I have sat next to you on plane rides and taxis,
Laughed at all the offhand jokes your kids made.
I know the legacy you want to leave and I've even
Gone as far as laying a few of those bricks myself.
So why is it when the time came to take a picture,
You so easily forgot that I was someone you knew?

I call that selective memory syndrome... f*ck that stung. You pulled no punches for this SD!
aghh, That one hurt on the inside. cracking the code of what other people seem to need in order to qualify as meaning something to them, possibly self-immolation, is impossible. Forget blood, sweat, tears, and poetry.
Ouch. This stung so bad. I've been in similar situations to this. Sometimes not as deeply involved in their lives, but always felt like a fairweather friend. Well wrought, my friend, and sorry you've experienced this!
