A thousand memories flooded back
On seeing the open album in her hands,
She laughed when she recalled her thought
"Growing up would bring grands"
The feeling of nostalgia
Rushed in like a wave,
Her eyes watered and lips played a smile
When she saw a picture of mother telling her to behave.
She missed how carefree she could be
How fun was always at its peak,
And the only worry she had
Was not getting caught in hide and seek.
She remembered how her smile was genuine
And her laughter wasn't forced,
She realised how she was now willing
To bring those golden days back at any cost.
We may smile now but aren't happy
To society's rules we strive,
Guess we get so busy growing up
We forget the feeling of being alive.
