Lingering Lavender

sweet lavender lingers

in memories of white

interlaced fingers

under pale moonlight

wishes and promises

surrendering hearts

emotional hostages

make for beautiful art

fields of wildflowers

and isles of rose petals

warms gentle showers

and handwritten love letters

whispers of love songs

warm sand and cool breezes

i'm a consenting pawn

when learning what real love is

**

A/N

the last few years have taught me many lessons in ways that were less than gentle. even with all my kicking and screaming of the contrary, what i refuse to say out loud again is that, "i will forever be a hopeless romantic, wishing for love in the scent of lavender"

From one fellow hopeless romantic to another, "Stay strong, and stay soft!" This is pure poetic bliss!

I kept going back to this part, "Emotional hostages make for beautiful art." Lovely poetry, Kelli!

I have struggled to get lavender to grow in my garden, but the plants are finally showing some life. I love to run my hand over the bush and carry that sweet lavender aroma with me.

A lovely poem about sweet love memories with lavender, flowers, and moonlight

  • I don't know about the scent of lavender. Always seemed a bit heady to me. But I'm with you on all the rest. And since I can't smell much of anything anymore, what does it matter anyway, lol?
