Matriarch

Will they remember?

By Emily McGuffPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

Do you think

they‘ll remember?

-

The woman who was glue

Who stuck to each of us

Even as we sought to tug away

Move away

Break the chain tying us

To that hometown

And yet

-

And yet

Our tracks lead us home

Black tires against gray asphalt

Led by the tender strings

That lead us back to our Matriarch
