i dreamt in color last night, seeing a bold

shift in hue from blue to a dazzling red.

the memory rushes back the very moment

i discover a clue. a glimpse into solving the

only crime against myself that matters...

*

being closer to forgiveness, I thrive in that

moment as if time takes a much needed

break from relentlessly plunging into the

futureβ€”allowing a chance to reflect...

*

i find a new home to explore. a place

to examine thought bubbles being sketched

out of thin air...this time, i welcome the

epiphany charging at me with the might

of a bull, trampling over barriers that

once sheltered inherited dreams. they all

reveal their deceitful faces before vacating...

*

the new way feels like a lost routine, fortified

and easily takes up residence inside the gestalt

of truth...overseen by a silent partner of faith.

*

i've come to realize that logic is an ally, an

instrument of the mind assisting with purpose

and prophesy. not a shot in the dark but an

opportunity to examine components of

things never considered... too many soldiers

conditioned to guard doors in a mind that

wants to open...

*

the path is clearer now. the journey moves

forward with answers to my own riddlesβ€”

defining purpose in a world that moves faster

than a charging bull...

Well done on your Top Story! I could use the tips from these Soldiers. Maybe, we're all guardians of our own doors.

"too many soldiers conditioned to guard doors in a mind that wants to open" That's a great line. Congrats on top story!

Such power, such command, like a charging bull, yet a slowdown affords reflection, pondering things never before considered. Lamar, powerful work here, and a fantastic top story! Also, congrats on the leadership board placement. All answers are waiting. You hold the red cape (muleta).

Wonderful. I had to slow myself down and go back to the beginning to read it more deliberately.

This was amazing, plain and simple. The images, the poetic wandering, the way you wrapped it all up...perfection! Loved it!

Immediately I could feel the power behind your words. Brought it home when I read the word 'myself' Even with this (...) the words flowed as if words were said with intention. Knowing where to reach and where you're going. Oh man! Goosebumps when I read everything past 'I find... Stopping at... Before vacating' Gosh I love the bull reference. So in line with the power and push driven by your words. That's it I am on the floor lying on my back eyes towards the ceiling not blinking. Not literally but that's how this part makes me feel. The bit about logic... Too many soldiers conditioned to guard doors in a mind that wants to open. Why does it hit me so? Because I've felt this way for a while. Have I seen this written often? No. That's why this is a winner for me. Faster than a charging bull. Mic drop. I can actually imagine you reading this on a stage. The audience packed before you. πŸ€—β€οΈ

The italicised free verse flows beautifully, and the image of color shifting from blue to dazzling red mesmerizes, from beginning to the end. Well done!

What a great imagery! I have the same question as you. What's my purpose? And indeed, it often seems like the whole world is against me to find it out, like I have a hanging red flag on me and the world is coming at me like a mad bull. Great poem! I hope you find the answer to your question (faster than the bulls). It reminded me of the last episode of the Blacklist.

Well-wrought, Lamar! We should indeed beware those who encourage us to abandon logic, reason, or discernment, just as we should always be aware that there is yet a higher purpose than exercising it for its own sake. I love the metaphor of the matador here!

This is quite the vivid dream and I hope you find your answers.

I love how strongly this sells the potency of giving up avoiding reality.

"logic is an ally, an instrument of the mind assisting with purpose and prophesy" - that's very profound, Lamar, I'm gonna quote you on that in my ethics of communication class. Great poem!

So glad I saw your piece first thing this morning Lamar. I was drawn in by the first line and I now feel so energised having read the evocative verse. I will be reading this again to see what more I can make of it. I read a story about some research that dreaming in colour is rare for older people who grew up with black and white TV as I did. Regardless of the influence of TV and now no doubt social media on dreams, the processes can sometimes reveal (or hide) secrets of our mind. This work was very much in the realm of the dream. Thank you Lamar for sharing the dreamscape.
