Mast Cast

••••••••••••••••

By Rowan Finley Published about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

Mast ripples from wind’s massaging touch.

I look toward lady liberty, side of ship I clutch.

A whole new life in a land of opportunity,

escaping misfortune, longing for fresh community.

The bellows of my soul cries,

calling to a land that hears my heavy sighs.

Hungarian heritage won’t be forgotten,

my relatives, I left, are not forsaken.

One day, they may come to join me here,

their own futures, obviously it’s their choice to steer.

This opportunity was just too good to pass me by,

in this country, I watch the bald eagle fly.

Coming of age and manhood,

some don’t understand, though they truly should.

I’ll seek a job and build a life with a woman here,

feeling the joys of freedom, walking down this beautiful wooden pier.

It's such an amazing country and so many Americans are oblivious to how fortunate they are to have been born here. I appreciate living in the land of freedom🇺🇸 Great work here 😊
