Man's Perpetual Tragedy
The descendants of Icarus

It is in the pursuit of eternal life, man finds death.
The loud, thunderous boom of fireworks-
also coined the invention of gunpowder-
is an ancient example of man flying too close
to the sun,
only to burn their wings.
The ocean below drowns their hopes and dreams.
Washing away
any modicum of relief that may have
survived.
Sinking to the bottom,
man finds himself wondering how
he got there. Was it the greed?
Was it because he rarely helped his
fellow man?
Why did he deserve such fate?
Then God calls out. Like a siren
compelling Odysseus from the mast.
"I forgive many sins.
but the one transgression
I'll never forgive,
is you trying to be
me."
