Making Peace

When the sound of clashing metal is replaced with a gasp,

“You’ve lost my friend. Hush now, I’ll make your death quick.”

A laugh escaped my blood-stained lips,

“You've got it all wrong. I wasn’t fighting to survive…”

“Then why?” He bent on a knee, holding my head so I could speak

“I fought so you might find yourself again...” I choked with a smirk,

My words cut deeper than my fatal wound as tears filled his eyes,

Finding peace as I faded from this life,

"I never forgot..." He made his peace.

This is very emotionally moving. Great job! This seems like the beginning of something bigger.
