Mak's Power
A knowledge tale
Mak did know why his Pop
pressed him so hard
at home and at school
Pop kept saying stand
and even when the kids
picked on Mak in school
Mak could not stand any longer
He fought and fought
with words and hands
And he kept being spank
all way through school
but he did not care
Mak's teacher took him aside
and tried to reason with him
but Mak just kept a close-mind
And so Mak's teacher had him
to write his feelings in words
And after hours and hours
of spending recess and play time
writing Mak's teacher saw his gift
and found a way for him to pass
classes and eventually graduate
Mak's teacher stated to him
before leaving him to his next teacher
Use your words not your hand
Use your mind not your anger
Use your knowledge that's your power
That's what separate us from animals
We have reason, question everything
and humble to learn about the world
You can succeed if you use your words
And that was the happiest day of Mak's life
He was determined to pass every class
And he was passing with flying colors as
the old wise tale use to say
Mak understandably grew up and Pop grew old
At his graduation, he did not see Pop
And he was worried because this was his moment
He was about to get his name read and walk
cross the stage and he search the audience
and he finally his eyes were set to ease
when he saw Pop stand and applaud
After the ceremony, Pop said
I never meant to treat you so bad
but I knew you were smart
My only child and I wanted you to succeed
To stand against the odds
And make something out of yourself
And you did
Mak and Pop departed ways as he
continue in success however Mak
never regretted and did not hold a grudge
He kept his focus to stand
to use knowledge to guide him
That knowledge is true power
and the world's foolishness could not stray him
