a poem

that was their true purpose

to let me shut my beak

forever

but at least it won’t be there

they should have known my life was planned

long before they could even think of

the art of writing or its lack

which only they could present

in the linchpin environment

ludicrously lynching my larynx

so, I won’t say a word no more

about anyone

who can read my words

this is the statement I just made

why they never understand?

why they get angry with no cause?

when all I ever wanted was just

write about the issue or person

shouldn’t the world be built this way

that we can say whatever we want

to strike a conversation with a few?

to reach richer meaning

than this life shovelled to the surface

as if we were clearing

snow from the driveway

do you all really want to stay

on the same level, never deeply submerged?

not knowing more? fine

it won’t be uttered

only carefully thought out

in the presence of my own person

who will appreciate the truth for once

and not just pretty words

dressed to impress

without anyone wishing to watch it closely
