A poem

I don’t know if I wanted to love you

Or if it had just been months since I’d last seen stars in the sky;

Since I felt comfort in deep blacks and blues

As the night covered everything but four cloudy eyes,

You whispered you knew the way

And it was so peaceful to trust your word,

Ease into the magnetism

And let you lead me to your corner of this crowded world

We lock eyes and lock lips

But stars look different on foreign land and

I should have known you were never really true

Before I let you spin me around and drop my hand.

I tell you goodbye

And I dig out my compass alone,

You never reply

And I find my own way home.
