Befriending the Voices

You made me feel like I was crazy

Alone, floating away on a cloud

Kept from the things that could save me

Far above me, in this little town

*

Said, I wasn’t anything you ever wanted me to be

I could go, you didn’t need me any longer

But you didn’t know the slightest truth, of me

Your behavior, only made me grow stronger

*

No, I may bend, but I won’t break

Evolution has become my hero

I'm willing to become the change that I need

You’ll be left behind here, at ground zero

*

When my world was crashing, coming undone,

And everything completely unwound

Circling thoughts of darkness proved to me,

I wasn’t lost, I had finally been found

*

I’ve learned now, how to grow with the pain

Use the beacon to maintain my compass

Becoming friendly with the voices I hear

Calling somewhere from inside the darkness

*

Don’t bother looking over your shoulder

To stay there would drive me insane

You deal with the voices that haunt you

If you hear someone calling your name

*

It’s madness
