Lying Lips

The Political Game

By Dan R FowlerPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Lying Lips

What shall we say then is our life for naught,

Each day that we’ve lived trying not to be caught.

For there are those around us with shrewd minds conjuring,

Bending the truth to suit themselves no matter how crippling.

Certain matters that were left to be discussed in private,

Have now become commonplace and pungently stagnate.

What are our lives coming to we’ve all often asked,

Only to have our hopes and dreams politically trashed.

We are to separate justified truth from whimsical fiction,

As the parties line up being armed with useless ammunition.

Verbal debates, many scandalous at times,

Used by forked-tongued politicians with ladders to climb.

Squash the little guy with all of your might,

Push them and pull them and keep them out of sight.

For to continue to ordain the truth as it stands,

Causes political houses to tumble, those built on sand.

I have little faith in those who spout out lies,

Hoping to win some seats or gain some political ties.

You’ve spent your time at the pinnacle of success,

By using all of us and placing millions in distress.

So go your way into the annals of time,

Boasting of your battles and committing crimes.

Was it not for the little people being used repeatedly,

You’d never have achieved such a deceptive destiny.

For many years all of us have walked the same path,

Watching and waiting for change to come at last.

But, if the change will cost you your lofty domination,

The simple person, the bedrock of this nation,

Will never see your promises come to fruition.
