Loving A Dream
I fell in love with a dream,
one that never stayed for long.
It whispered promises at night,
then vanished by the dawn.
I loved the version of tomorrow,
that only existed in my head.
Built castles out of maybe,
on things that were never said.
Loving a dream feels gentle,
until you wake up alone.
Holding pieces of something,
that never learned how to grow.
Dreams do not argue or leave,
they do not betray or explain.
They simply dissolve into air,
leaving memory as pain.
I replay moments that never happened,
conversations that felt so real.
Grieving a future imagined,
hurts more than wounds you can feel.
Loving a dream teaches you truth,
about hope and how it survives.
Even illusions can shape us,
and change the course of our lives.
