Lovely Place

I live in a lovely place,

Southern California !

Our house is within the triangle

made by Los Angeles,

San Diego, and Las Vegas—

ocean to the west,

desert to the east,

and the Mexico borders,

to the south.

It’s insanely expensive,

but we manage

by cutting down other costs.

The warmth feels good,

much like homeland in India.

There are a variety of fruits,

choice of hiking trails,

and a world-famous zoo,

so, we stay.

but I know, it’s only,

surface-level privileges.

Underneath, troubles brewing.

We’ve faced tremors,

too many times,

the dreaded San Andreas Fault

runs from north to south.

We live barely 10 miles,

from the Pacific Ocean,

a tsunami is possible.

And what to say about

the calamitous wildfires?

Just six months back,

the world saw the catastrophes.

As we maintain our nest

with two little children,

we live aware,

vigilant of threats,

we keep honing,

adaptation and resilience.
