Lovely Isabel
A Sonnet

I love you so, my lovely Isabel.
I’d give my life to see you rest in ease.
Sleep now, dear mom, may your spirit know peace.
Your voice still rings, a bright and gentle bell.
All of your life, your mission was to give love.
Unselfishly, you offered all your time.
You gave and gave, and never asked a dime.
When your day comes, you’ll dance with light above.
I am your son, so many years gone by.
My body’s weary now; I need my rest.
I’ve given my time. I’ve given my best.
The road to my peace comes with your goodbye.
I know it will hurt, my heart it will test
When that day arrives I know I will cry

Well-wrought, Rick. Bless your heart, and your mother's too.
Your sadness bled from every word. I am praying for peace for you and your mother 🙏
Beautifully penned, Rick. Prayers for peace.
I had to look away from the screen. Sit back with my back against the wall... And... Just... Be sad for you. For her. If this is you having to take care of her, when you are tired and weary yourself... Oh this hurts the heart too much. Then her eyes are closed in the photo. I don't think I can cope now. This is far bigger than empathy. It's like you've just placed your life into my lap and I've got to sit here with it. I don't mind. But man! I am so sorry 🤗❤️
Absolutely lovely and heartfelt—your love for Isabel shines through every line! 🌸 She’d be smiling at how deeply you feel, I just know it.
This tugged at my heart strings and made me emotional. Sending you both lots of love and hugs ❤️
With so many losses in the last decade and even the last year, this one hit hard. So many people to look back on. This is a lovely tribute. 💙
Beautifully heartfelt and poignant, Rick. Excellent job at the sonnet! ☺️💚
Hope you are well. Best to you.
I cried tears for Isabel upon reading this. She is so beautiful and so lucky to have you for her son 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
This is so heartbreaking, but beautiful.
Heart-tugging feelings for your mother and truly evocative Rick.
This is so sweet, Rick. I hope that everything is OK. Having just lost my mother in July, I know how hard it is to have to let go to someone you love dearly. I can tell from this poem that you love your mother very much and know that rest will bring her peace, but I still hope that you will not go through too much pain. *hugs*
Awww, that is so lovely and heart-felt, Rick. I had to be a caregiver for a month and found it difficult, I can't even imagine how hard it is when all you do is caring for your mother. You are a hero.
🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️❤️You are one in a million Rick. May your days be blessed and Isabel find rest.
wonderful tribute to your mom
Beautiful feelings coming from a loving heart. It's know the pain in preparing goodbyes. This is a beautiful tribute to your Mum. In her heart, she always can feel your love.
Selah.
