Exploring Fear and Longing in Matters of the Heart

Love is not meant for me, or so I've come to believe,

For I fear the vulnerability it may weave.

I am not capable of loving, or so I claim,

For the thought of it fills me with a sense of shame.

The concept of forever with someone by my side,

Seems like a daunting, treacherous ride.

Love, once a beacon of hope, now seems scary,

As it can lead to a fate that's far from merry.

In oblivion, love may begin its sweet embrace,

But soon it morphs into a twisted, tangled maze.

It becomes a dangerous game of hearts and minds,

Leaving scars and wounds of various kinds.

Yet amidst my fears and doubts so deep,

There's a longing within, a secret to keep.

For deep down, I yearn to feel love's tender touch,

To experience its warmth, its magic, its clutch.

Perhaps love is not as daunting as it seems,

Perhaps it's not just a figment of dreams.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll find the courage to see,

That love is not meant to imprison, but to set us free.
