I am ready to write about that one love,
The love that doesn’t fit into the parameter of words,
Yet in my heart,
I know just what it is.
It’s as simple as the feeling in a kiss,
Yet as complex.
A kiss can mean nothing,
Or it can mean the world.
It’s as common as gazing into your lover’s eyes,
Yet as rare
That you look and actually see
What you are looking for.
It’s as enduring as a good hug,
Yet even longer.
A hug can merely be endured,
Or it can make time stop.
It’s as unplanned as this poem,
Yet fate declared it for you
Long before you ever knew
This love would find you.
It’s as exciting as the strongest anticipation,
Yet its satisfaction
Has the most calming affect
On your soul.
It’s as wild as untamed curls in your face
Yet it’s the sanest decision
Of your life
To trust your heart.
It’s as passionate as the sincerest, “I love you,”
Yet almost unnecessary.
Even without words,
Your hearts speak.
It’s the greatest desire you’ll ever want,
Yet it is a need,
One I cannot explain,
Though I keep trying.
Forget what it’s supposed to be,
And everything people tell you,
For if they are able to tell of it,
Then that’s not it.
