Love of their life.

A lifetime of devotion.

By Ellysa GreenhalghPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

As she stood with a veil upon her head, looking down the aisle

Filled with nerves, in love yes, but young & unsure

Her father walked her down, to the man at the end, his blue eyes twinkling as he looked at her

He was nervous, but never had he been more sure of anything, this woman belonged next to him

He never tried to own her, he never presumed what she may be thinking

One of the many things he loved about her, was how she spoke her mind, she was independent

As the years went on, their love grew stronger, no matter how much he travelled for work

She would be waiting, of this he was sure, she was sure of his love & commitment never doubting him

Their marriage was one to remember, a love that stood the test of time

All battles were fought together, he was the sword & she was the shield

Together they spent fifty years married, it was heartbreaking for him to leave her

They vowed in sickness & health, this stood true, she held him close until she could no longer

In memory he will always live, her heart remains true, as she walks forward alone

She can feel his hand on her shoulder, forever giving her the love & strength he did in life.
