Sweet as can be
Smooth chocolate eyes
They make me want to melt
I look and am hooked by those
Portals to the soul
They show all you are and think
Yet hide more than I can take
We joke a lot and don’t talk about how we feel
For we say it in a different way
Cause
Love is our language
Music is our means
Hope is our harness
That holds us tight to all we need
You hold me safe and secure in your arms
Some may say you over protect
But you keep me always from harm
When I get upset and will not tell
You lead me off to where we can be alone
And kiss my head letting me out of my shell
I’ll talk forever unable to stop
You sit and listen well
You only talk to comfort me
But do much more after
For

A Dart at Dusk
Seconds ago, the sullen sun set on the two of us… my exuberant furry companion and me. A fresh breeze embraces us, delivering welcome relief from the day’s oppressive heat. His typical stumbling and staggering along — apace with a sloth — has turned into trip-trapping, high-stepping, almost skipping along.
