love might kill me (and i would be okay with it)

a poem | is too much of a good thing just as bad for you as a taste of the bad things?

if an apple a day

keeps the doctor away

will two make me sick?

three?

four?

i drink water to stay alive

but will die if it's too much,

death by drowning kidneys

even being too happy

can become a death sentence,

supposedly,

but i wouldn't stop being happy

even if the doctor told me

if it would be the thing

to do me in.

so many songs speak of dying happy you know.

and what of the air

and color?

what of love?

would it smother me?

overwhelm me until I'm drowning

as if it's an ocean's tidal wave?

or maybe, just maybe

love is one of the expectations

because i have never

wished for less

love.

caring people,

coloring my life in brilliant shades,

my breath of fresh air.

if it is killing me,

let it,

for who would i be

without it?
