Love me, but don't hold me too tight
Ode to freedom
Don't hold me too tight
Or I may take flight
Like a butterfly with delicate wings
I need to run free
So keep loving me
And forgive my failings
I give all I can
To each and every man
But I often feel I am too much
My loving has to be shared
So that feelings can be spared
I appreciate that care so much
So love me with all you are
Like a bright, shining star
Whose sparkle will never die
But don't hold me too tight
Or I may have to take flight
And who knows how far I may fly
Let me go when I need to go
But always will you know
That I will come back to your heart
And remember always
That across the days
We will never be apart.

This poem is a beautiful, bittersweet dance between freedom and belonging. The butterfly metaphor perfectly captures the delicate balance of love and independence. It's a heartfelt plea for understanding, resonating with a vulnerable, soaring spirit! 🌞🫡🌄🫡🌻
Kc - So glad you could relate to my 'To Be Loved' - You're better with the metaphors than I am: Here's another couple of 'Deal-Breakers' - Don't hold too tight; as once sung: "You don't own me." Funny: Oh, may I to tell you a comment that came in today from one of my Senior Center Newsletter followers? Quote: "Jay, Do it if they Like it ~ Even if you don't." Come-on Karen people like to find their sense of humor these days. Best to you, Kc Jk.in.l.a.
The delicate visual you paint with this poem is beautiful.
