LOVE, LOVE SONGS
For The Short and Sweet Love Poem
Why? You ask.
They say,
Rain or dry, day or nite, warm or cold,
Writer's notes: My poem includes song titles with four letters or less. Billboard's number one songs are in italics and the tunes are in order from the earliest (1958) to the latest (2005).
Starting with To Know Him Is To Love Him, the Teddy Bears' number one hit in 1958 staying there for three weeks. Besides Elvis' hits, during my pre-teen years, the Teddy Bears song was a personal favorite. Recalling the teens on American Bandstand danced the stroll to this song.
Next, Lulu sang To Sir With Love hitting the top of the charts in 1967. The song was heart-touching and stayed at the top spot for five weeks. In 1968, for five weeks, Paul Mauriat's Love Is Blue reached and remained number one on Billboard.
After the Beatles, in 1973, Paul's solo band Wings hit number one with My Love. Paul McCartney and Wings' My Love reigned at number one for four weeks.
Then, The Bee Gees' song How Deep Is Your Love scored the number one spot in 1977 remaining there for three weeks. Amazed that it wasn't longer than that. Also. in 1977, Best of My Love by The Emotions climbed the chart and stayed at number one for six weeks.
In 1985, the Foreigner soared to number one on Billboard's top chart spot with I Want To Know What Love Is. Their song stayed on top for two weeks. Unbelievably, the Boyz II Men's song I'll Make Love to You was the number one song in 1994 for 14 weeks. The following year, It Must Have Been Love by Roxette claimed the top spot staying there for two weeks. Ten years later, Mario hit the top of the charts with Let Me Love You. From 2005 until now, Let Me Love You has continued to be Mario's biggest and best hit.

Great minds think alike. I wrote a poem last week using only the title of love songs. I was surprised there were so many with four letter words.
