Love life Luna
Song to Selene

Blessed Selene
Most beauteous among the heavens
Hear these words I beg you
Though you be distant
Beyond the watery space between us
This message comes to you in hope
For I am not unhearing of your song
Abide in your glory
Feel your ebb and flow as my sisters feel
Your rhythm of life
In mystery with their own
Cycle of lifegiving
Some say you are dry desolate and dusty but
I know that not to be true and that
In your heart you cradle dear life
Glorious life held in love
Great oceans to quench its thirst
As visitors to your shores may soon discover
I pray such visitations are not unwelcome
Yet fear they may be
Disturbing your pristine sediment
That rich regolith and guardian of your virtue
Projectiles penetrating your protective membrane
Seismic disturbance of your solemn solitude
As your world collides with these otherworldly goods
Some none too good as we have known before
Metals polished
Porcelain and plastics
Fossil fuels burnt and unburnt
A game ball struck to the horizon
By unruly player
Faecal remains passed
By visitors long past
Frozen in their remembrance
Of life concluded
Numerous spacecraft crashed
One hiding innocent life
Alien microbial forms
Blasted on impact
Scattered to the windless winds
Alive or dead we may not know
Though it surely be true
That we have so sullied your surface
I pray thee on my knees Selene
Be kind
To these my brethren and
Sisterly visitors to come
Embrace them welcome them protect them
Guide them safely home
To their loved ones
Their world
Below
Blessed Selene
Hear my prayer
My plea

I love how this begins with praise and worship of the goddess into the practicalities of her future as a geological place of exploration and degradation and finally back again. Seems to me wiser that we love and care for her at a distance! Great challenge entry and good luck!
This very relaxing piece 😌. I like this line the most: Disturbing your pristine sediment
Just beautiful and kind of like living in a dream.
I love the combination of the old-timey feel with the language and the modern feel with the talk of rockets and space travel. It should clash, but you made it work. Nicely done.
