Love Letter to a Friend

Feelings of gratitude and feeling held

In the darkest of caves-

I’m finding my way with both arms outstretched

I’m feeling the walls, taking care in each step

I feel for a sign I'm alive

That I'm here,

I am good,

I can trust,

I can brace through the fear

Most days down here are nothing but okay

I’m keeping the faith that I won’t have to stay

Some days I’m certain there is no way out,

I’ll never be found, and I’m riddled with doubt

But I know, and I know

I’m not fully alone

in craving some warmth and wanting a home

When I reach out my hands I can always be sure

That your presence is here and it’s honest and pure

You’re the calm in my chaos

You’re my home without walls

And I’m grateful to be here, to know you at all.
