All lovers have some flaw or quirk

And learn that after wedding's kiss

Love is a shitload of work

Moods and passions don't always work

In perfect matrimonial bliss

But reveal each flaw and every quirk

Lovers learn of other's quirk and think

"How can I live my life with this?

Love is a shitload of work"

Then life becomes just sleep and work

And loving word becomes a hiss

At every flaw and every quirk

"For who should bear with such a quirk,

When blisses are all set a miss?

Love is a shitload of work"

Yet love forgives the spousal jerk,

And lovers learn when life's amiss

To love each flaw and every quirk

And love is a shitload of work.

Which I've left "there" for seekers to seek

Though I lack the grandeur of that Pirate King

Perhaps these pebbles can be a light

In this life, this laughing tale
