Leads to heartache and pain

Love hurts

Love kills,

So tell me why

We fall in love still?

***

Fools are born

Every day of the year,

We are told what to expect

But we don’t want to hear.

***

We believe we are different

Won’t happen to me,

Need to learn our own lesson

So we will wait and see.

***

At the start

Love is great,

We like to think

We have found our mate.

***

From then we soon learn

About heartache and pain,

We think about leaving

But what’s there to gain.

***

We fall in love

And everything’s fine,

But believe me the pain will come

It’s just a matter of time.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
