Go hand in hand

I thought I’d take pen and paper

And write of love and pain,

The two almost always go side by side

And many a couple it’s maimed.

***

I hope that this lesson alone

Is one that most couples have learnt,

But if you are one of the few that hasn’t

Then you will find yourself burnt.

***

It will feel great at the start

But then the tide will turn,

You’ll be going along on your merry way

When suddenly you’ll feel the burn.

***

I wish that no one had to find

That with love there’s pain as well,

Why..........I can’t understand

If you do know........please tell!

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
