Arise & Shine!

To the Silence That Saved Me

I feared you once, Silence.

You were the echo of absence,

a room too large for one voice,

a night too long for one heart.

But you -

you became my sanctuary.

In your stillness I heard His whisper:

“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)

Your quiet did not crush me,

it cradled me.

It held the pieces of me

until they learned their shape again.

I thought healing would roar,

but it arrived like morning -

soft, unannounced, faithful.

You taught me that love is not found

in chasing footsteps down empty halls,

but in the steady breath of One

who never leaves.

Silence,

you are no longer emptiness.

You are evidence.

Proof that my heart can rest

before it beats for another.

So I do not despise you anymore.

I bless you.

For it was here,

in your holy hush,

that I became whole again.
