ocean's glare

The salty tang of longing filled the air,

As Amelia gazed across the ocean's glare.

Sunsets bled crimson, mirroring her heart,

Aching for a love torn worlds apart.

She met him in a bustling city's throng,

A chance encounter, a melody's sweet song.

Liam, a sailor with eyes of endless blue,

Spoke of foreign lands, dreams painted anew.

Letters danced across the ocean's tide,

Words filled with passion, where hearts could confide.

She dreamt of white sand and palm trees swaying,

His promises whispered, forever staying.

But distance, a cruel and silent foe,

Taught love's fragile flame could ebb and flow.

Weeks turned to months, letters grew scarce,

His absence a void, a love's fading star.

Doubt, a serpent, coiled around her soul,

Whispering fears that would take control.

Was he lost at sea, a memory's trace,

Or had another love taken his place?

One stormy night, a frantic telegram came,

"Shipwrecked on isle, awaiting rescue's claim."

Fear clenched her heart, a tempestuous roar,

She wouldn't wait, she'd brave the ocean's floor.

Disguised as a deckhand, hair shorn and tied,

She boarded a vessel, fate's tide defied.

Weeks of hardship, a sailor's grueling test,

Her resolve unyielding, put doubt to rest.

The island emerged, a lush paradise green,

But hope turned to dread – a sight most obscene.

Liam, chained and broken, despair in his eyes,

Captured by pirates, beneath hostile skies.

With cunning and courage, a plan she devised,

Stole a pirate's cutlass, her spirit unsized.

In the dead of night, a fight for their lives,

Blades clashing in fury, beneath moonlit skies.

Freed, they embraced, a love fiercely won,

Against all odds, a battle they'd outrun.

The island paradise, a bittersweet stay,

But love's resilience, lighting their way.

Days turned to weeks, a rescue ship's horn,

A bittersweet farewell, a new life was born.

Together they sailed, across the vast blue,

Love, a compass guiding, their dreams coming true.

Amelia, no longer a girl filled with fear,

A woman of strength, love forever near.

Liam by her side, his spirit unbound,

Love that defied distance, forever profound.

Back in her city, the salty breeze still blew,

But not with longing, instead, a love renewed.

For they had braved oceans, weathered every storm,

Their love a lighthouse, keeping them warm.

And as they gazed upon the endless blue,

Their hands entwined, their future anew,

They knew, no matter the distance, the miles they might roam,

Love across the seas, would forever find its home.
