They spent countless evenings sitting on her porch, talking about their dreams and fears, the conversations flowing as naturally as the sunset they watched together.

It wasn't until senior year of high school that Ronnie realized his feelings for Casey had evolved into something deeper. The revelation hit him one evening when they were sitting by the lake, the stars reflected in the water.

Casey was talking about her dream of studying art history in Paris, her eyes shining with excitement, and Ronnie felt a pang of something he couldn't quite name at the time.

It was only later, lying awake in bed, that he identified it as fear—the fear of losing her.
