Lost-ish, Am I?

I become lost-ish in the realm of living , for what it the purpose of life , when I see an animal decaying beside the road ; it hurts my gut and then I force myself to think, “they are free now, free from the world’s pain and difficulties.” Then my mind zooms to thoughts of how their mother birthed them , and got them to the point where they could fend for themselves , and to what purpose? To be hit by a car and die either quickly or slowly, we don’t know.

What is the purpose of life

Is it to live however long you are graced with living and enjoy every breath or is it to teach something magnificent or something tiny , for we never know the impact our smile or thank you has, or the quiet tones we speak to a dog or cat or horse or fish or frog or bird

What is the purpose of life, I think it is sort of lost-ish

Lost-ish in the world, so small in such a vast expanse

Do our words stick or are they lost-ish once rolled off our tongues?

Does it matter? What matters?

What is the purpose of life, to try and figure it out, or to live it fully each moment , and not wonder about being overshadowed or forgotten or alone or lonely, because those two are not the same.

Are you lonely if you are feeling lost-ish?

Or are you alone if you can’t find your way?

Why do we need to find our way, can’t we just get up and move each day??

All of these things I ponder , in my world of wonder, and there it is, yes!

Wonder can make lost-ish okay,

can’t it?

This is such a wonderfully reflective piece, Andrea!! Thank you for joining in with this brilliant submission; it is so rich with feeling. I think that focusing on feelings associated with the suffering and loss of often-overlooked creatures makes such a moving window into the heart of the prompt. Stellar entry! :)

  • Profound! We all ask these questions of ourselves. They are the simplest, yet toughest!

As I've said elsewhere, Beauty is in the Experience of the Knower, and Wonder is the Heart of Endurance! Well-wrought!

I really enjoyed the opening thoughts then how you blended it with brief sentences that ask a question.
