Lost in a World/Where I Don't Belong
they always seem to be out there

the awakening sun breaks the darkness
bringing the light of a new day
with it comes
lost desires and loneliness
they want to walk with me
be my companions throughout the day
when I see them coming
I close my eyes
look the other way
I lock the door
close the shades
think of things that will chase them away
they always seem to be out there
like a Lion
hunting, stalking its prey
laying in wait
watching, for their chance to slip in
sometimes they do, sometimes I win
now it's time for the sun to sleep
a blanket of darkness will soon lay at my feet
those that came to visit in the day
have now gone away
now that night is settling in
a new world will begin
sitting alone in my room
emptiness will consume me soon
nights darkness has taken away the light
smothering it
taking its life
within this darkness walks memories
reaching out for life
to smother me
tomorrow the sun will awaken again
then all of this will start over again
About the Creator
A. Keith Clement
I write poetry and short stories it is a necessity for me. It keeps me happy.
Without knowing it until I was forty-seven, my life has been a work in progress that began in my youthful years as a child and has continued to this day.
