Lose Your Dream

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

Verse 1

I used to wake with fire in my chest

Chasing visions I couldn’t suppress

But the world said “settle,” said “be safe”

And I watched my colors fade to away

Pre-Chorus

They say dreams are for the young

But. baby, I know that’s where the soul is strung

You clip those wings, you dim that light

You simply lose the fight

Chorus

Lose your dream, lose your mind

Start forgetting what you came to find

Trade your voice for a quiet life

But then the silence cuts like a knife

Lose your dream, lose your flame

Start believing it’s all the same

But I’d rather burn than be confined

Lose your dream, lose your mind

Verse 2

I’ve seen the hollow in their eyes

The ones who gave up on the sky

They walk like ghosts, they breathe like stone

But I won’t call that home

Bridge

So I’ll hold my dream like sacred fire

Even when the world conspires

To tame the wild, to blur the line

I’ll keep my mind, I’ll keep my spine

Final Chorus

Lose your dream, lose your soul

Start forgetting what makes you whole

But I’ll always rise with the rebel wind

And dream again and again

Lose your dream, lose your mind

But I won’t leave mine behind

I’ll fight to the death to keep what's mine

Lose your dream — lose your mind
