Looney tune for the moon

In praise and thanks

By Raymond G. TaylorPublished 3 months ago 1 min read
William Trost Richards, Moonlight on Mount Lafayette, New Hampshire, 1873, The Met

Dearest Moon

You wakened me this morning with

Your pure eerie light

The sight of which so moved me

At this unearthly hour

Did you mean to disturb my slumber

Was it your intent for heaven sent

Imagination

To be thus wove into these words of praise

Did you raise me from my bed

To pen these words

This song to you

This lazy looney tune

A celebration perhaps

Of your desire

To inspire

For who needs sleep when night time wiles

Bring such a joy of restfulness

Perchance creativeness

This bard doth thank you truly

For the beneficence

Of sleeplessness

This glorious

Moonlit

Morn

What a lovely ode to the moon! I love how you've turned sleeplessness into something beautiful and creative rather than frustrating.

The magic hour in dark of early morning when all is silence and the glowing moon tugs with its greatest power. Loving ode to lunar light, Ray. It truly captures the magic of that inspiring hour.
