I looked up again tonight.

I started thinking about how You scattered the stars across the sky on the fourth day.

As far as I can see, a midnight blue canvas gleams speckled with spectacular stars, every one different. And You gave each star a name.

And my mind can't even comprehend the half of it as I stare up at the starlit heavens, and my heart doesn't even know how to act in the moment.

And when You hung those stars thousands of years ago, You knew that I'd be standing in the dark on this very night, completely awestruck like I always am, and your stars would bear witness to the profundity of it all.

The stars wait all day for the sun to dip below the horizon so that they can finally shine, every one in its place, and the night sky shines just like it did on the fourth day of Creation, thousands of years ago. Moses and Abraham and David and Jesus looked up and saw the same stars that I see every night. I would like to think that someone looks up at the stars and wonders if I'm looking up at them too.

There's really no way to describe the enormity of what I see and feel when I see the sky sparkling with the jewels that You set into it.

I looked up again tonight.
