To feel the icy grip of loneliness
To feel it wrap around my throat
To feel its disorienting unsteadiness
It’s all I can do to stay afloat
When I can find no companionship
No friend, no family to keep me anchored
The greatest hunger is for friendship
For nothing more have I hankered
No drink has tasted quite as sweet
No food seemed quite as savory
Company, to me, would be quite a treat
A human’s touch would make me quavery—
If only I could find solace by myself
As you seem to have found with yourself
