How lonely are you?

Whispered the boogeyman under my bed...

Strumming,

TAPPING

my spinal chord like a xylophone

I feel loss, deep within my bones

That rattle,

And quiver-

ALONE

I stay up late,

until, my mind quits it’s marathon run

How fun!

Creeped the monster,

from behind my bi-fold closet door.

I turn to face the couch

Like a kid,

put in time out

For a moment, I can pretend it’s a loved ones embrace...

The admiration shows on his face

It’s only a dream,

no comparison to reality

I understand, the “void” feeling

replied the shadow, on the wall

Fingers shaped like bunny ears

The flashlight,

cast a circle of saturation

mimicking the orbit of the moon

May you find someone,

who can put you’re anxiety at ease;

While comforting you-

Just as the moon, comforts

It’s own reflection on the lake

in you’re silence,

In their presence,

May the person,

you meet,

speak passionately,

about you like poets

Dickinson and Browning.

Hitting you’re funny bone,

not as humorous, as it outa be

More so,

like throbbing with intensity.

sad poetry
